| Eldest son of the town of Bryson City's namesake. After completing his law degree at UNC in 1895, he practiced law in Western North Carolina, including service as Solicitor and Superior Court Judge. He was appointed Duke University's first University Counsel in 1927, and served in that capacity as well as teaching law school classes until his retirement in1947, when he returned to Bryson City to live out his final years. | |
